Guided Tours Of Chernobyl?
Unbelievably it is now possible to take a guided tour round the nuclear reactor site at chernobyl and the nearby town of Prypyat that was built to house workers at the gigantic reator site. For just $130usd you can join a tour of the reactor site and the nearby towns and villages that were smothered in an estimated 9 tonnes of radioactive debris from the reactor. The authorities in the ukraine say you would need to spend at least 5 days there to get the same amout of radiation as you would from an x-ray. would you visit the site? i know i wont be, given the regions past track record of nuclear safety not just with chernobyl but also its nuclear submarines on which numbers of submariners have been reported to have contracted massive doses of radiation from 'safe' practices i cant quite bring myself to trust the assesment of the situation. I accept the people running things now may not the same people as in the past.. but no, i still cant quite do it. |
